Engine toast after 50,000km after dealer added too much oil

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Cannot get any response from Acura and Honda customer relations after a service technician at Acura Pickering overfilled the oil in my engine. This caused the oil to foam and hampered the ability of the oil to properly lubricate the engine.

Now, I am faced with a $10,000 - $26,000 bill for the replacement of an engine with only 50,000 km on it. The dealer will not accept responsibility, and Acura/Honda customer relations are not responding in hopes I will go away. No one other than the dealer has ever serviced my vehicle.

Why pay top dollar and go to a dealership for service when they can damage your vehicle and then charge you to repair it? Acura/Honda Canada appears to *** this.

Pros:
  • Nice vehicles
Cons:
  • Poor customer support if it involves a dealership
  • Stalling tactics they hope you will go away
  • Dealerships not accepting responsibility for their mistakes

Preferred solution: A replacement engine with similar mileage. It is out of warranty but the dealer caused the issue so the replacement cost should either be covered or greatly reduced.

User's recommendation: Double check dealer work. Don't put your faith in Acura/Honda customer relations to do the correct thing.

Ripped off

Just felt ripped off. They charged me a $1000 markup on parts, and they billed me for 8 hours of service on something that shouldn't have taken more than 3 hours. My car wasn't in for more than 3 hours either.

THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT RECALLS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Honda Canada - THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT RECALLS

My Honda is under recall, they do not have a part. They say I have to wait until "November".

The problem is that I want to import the car to the US for which I need a letter of compliance with US regulations from Honda. They do not want to give that letter because there is no part. So i cannot drive for at least 6 months since I cannot register the car in the US.

They say there is nothing they can do because that is the company policy. Unbelievably arrogant.

They do not give a damn. Very pissed.

Engine gone after 50,000 km

My engine developed a loud knock and could not be driven. The tow truck driver checked the oil and found it 3/4 inch too high on the dipstick.

This probably caused oil foaming and the inability of the oil to properly lubricate the engine. The dealer is the only entity to service the vehicle since purchased. It is out of warranty and I am facing a $10K-26K invoice for a replacement engine.

I registered a complaint with Acura and Honda customer relations almost 3 weeks ago and it has yet to be assigned. Meanwhile, I have no vehicle and the result of the service tech's overfilling of the oil will result in having to pay the dealership a lot of money for something they caused.

Hood rusting

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Purchased a CRV black edition in 2020, fast forward to the start of 2023 and the hood has rust bubbles on it. Corrosion was confirmed by 2 different auto body experts.

I was told by Honda Canada that the rust was caused by rocks! Now they quoted me at 3500 to fix the issue.

They have provided me with zero proof and have not done a physical inspection. Honda Canada is full of ***

Battery of New 2023 Honda CR-V Touring Hybrid Failed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought a 2023 Honda CR-V Touring Hybrid and the new battery of the car at this dealer had failed and had to be replaced. The service report indicated an odometer reading of only 6684km, highlighting the alarming brevity of the battery's lifespan.

I am deeply concerned about the lack of quality assurance and testing conducted before the vehicle was dispatched to the dealership. Such premature battery failure not only inconvenienced me as I could not startup the car at all to drive to work but also undermines my confidence in the reliability of Honda vehicles.

Recall on CRV 2009

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Worst service ever seen . My CRV 2009 didnt pass on a recall .

After research they were suppose to rebuy at the car at the market plus 30% . They offered me 2600$ pls 30% , telling me this is market price when in redbook and Carfax the prices runs between 4500$-6100$ . Took 3months for dealing with them , they dont call back , dont read the documents that you send them , and treat you like you are a problem !

I dealed with Sam , who skills of service would'nt even be appropriate for a fastfood restaurant . Never again I will buy Honda !

HONDA Whistleblower Complaint - AC Units Are ACKNOWLEDGED DEFECTIVE!! AND We Are Sick Of Dealing With Irate Customers About This!

Honda Canada - why have you not sent out letters to all Honda Civic and other vehicle owners whose cars were purchased for year 2018 and onwards? RE: *DEFECT 80100-TBA-A01*

The purpose of this review is to inform every Honda owner of any 2018 vehicle or newer of the following.

Honda Canada is very much aware that there is a problem with the air conditioning units in ALL of the vehicles purchased after 2017.

We already know that the AC condenser and AC fuse relays will fail in the cars. We are aware of a leak due to a bad manufacturing defect.

We wont recall the vehicles like we did in the United States, because the Transportation Safety Board of Canada doesnt issue recalls on non-safety related problems with cars. So, because we are not forced to do it, we will not do it. Even though its the right thing to do and there is an internal Honda Canada memo relating to the problem with the cars.

NSB in US issues vehicle recalls on all vehicles with manufacturer defects, regardless of whether it is a safety issue or a problem not related to safety.

TSB in Canada ONLY issues a recall if the manufacturer defect is safety related.

Honda is aware of the difference, so there is no recall on the problem.

I wish to remain anonymous as I am a current Honda Canada employee.

I have the internal memo and have made copies of it, for proof of internal knowledge and acknowledgment of the ongoing issue.

We will charge you for the air conditioning if you cannot prove that you did not cause the problem, however the onus should be on us to repair it as we have silently extended the warranty up to 10 full years after the date of the vehicles purchase. However, there are strict guidelines and we do say that all air conditioning units should be examined thoroughly looking for any defects so that the charge can be relayed back to the customer in the event of a nick or scratch, even if its unrelated to the problem.

Anyone who knows where their air conditioning unit is located in their engine bay is already keenly aware that there is really zero possibility for there to be road caused damage on the unit.

Preferred solution: Honda Canada must acknowledge the issue in all 2016 through 2021 vehicles and issue the recall.

User's recommendation: Recommending to halt further vehicle purchases until the cars already on the road have been serviced! This is a major flaw that will have be impacts on your life.

Same problem. 2019 Civic won't repair my air conditioner.

Dealer said "it's a defect. Honda won't recall it because the Canada transportation board said they don't have to because it's not a " safety problem ".

No customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Honda CRV drive chain needed replacing at year six. Year seven, the engine needs to be replaced because the plastic timing guides broke and wrecked it.

Honda quoted 10K for new engine or 5K for a used one with 90-day warranty. No support, was told I was outside the "loyalty period." This, despite the fact I purchased a second CRV four months ago. Their reason: I didn't have the car serviced by Honda and didn't have an extended warranty. Have simply asked for some support here.

Tried to escalate complaint - no response from Honda Canada in 9 days.

Dec 22 they are now closed for holidays with no indication when they will reopen. Low mileage, responsibly driven and maintained.

What has really upset me is reading comments like these. Yes no car manufacturer is perfect and yes there are defects.

The fact that they ignored your legitimate complaint gave me second thoughts . I have purchased 3 Honda Vehicles since 1990 . In 1990 I purchased a Honda Civic and in 2001 I purchased 2 Honda Accords. I was involved in serious car accident regarding the first Honda Accord.

Honda has lost its competitive edge. I am now buying a KIA car as a result of reviewing JD POWER performance reviews..

I finally received a response at the end of January, so almost two months later, just to say they weren’t prepared to do anything. I agree cars have defects, but to this extent, and given that I had also just bought a new one from them, I expected more from Honda.

Not any more. And yes, the irony is I looked at the Kia and just felt I could trust Honda.

Apparently not. They’ve lost a customer for life, not that they care.

That is why this is right now a Lawsuit issued in province of Quebec regarding the Paint issue concerning new vehicles year 2023. DISTURBING...

This is why I have now decided to buy a KIA vehicle. Honda has lost its way!!

They are no longer concerned about reliability or consumer satisfaction.. Its all about profits/greed.

Ripped, and pissed me off.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My 2021 Honda Goldwing was in Ontario Milton Honda dealership for warranty for 8 months. Still not fixed after the winter months, and with no help from Honda customer relations.

Don't tell me I didn't give the Milton dealer a chance to fix my motorcycle. I spent the weekend on my own time, and fixed it in under 3 days.

If the technician wasn't sure how to fix it or my motorcycle wasn't covered. They should have had the guts to tell me, and not waste my time instead of goofing me around.

I asked customer relations if I picked up my Goldwing, and fixed it myself using Honda parts would they pay me back minus the labor. They said sure as long as I keep the receipts, and used Honda parts.

Sure enough after I fixed it on my expense, and going as far to bring it to another Honda dealer to prove I fixed it with Honda parts, and showing the failed parts.

The Honda customer relations are now totally ignoring me.

Now I'm stuck with the bill.

Shame on your warranty, customer relations, and your incompetent rude technician wasting my time. I'm going to make it a point to tell all my follow riders what a scam you all are, and that extended warranty would not be worth the gamble.
