Verified Reviewer |Extremely Disappointed with My New Honda CR-V Experience
I recently purchased a 2025 Honda CR-V Sport from Carter Honda, Vancouver, expecting a reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle backed by Honda's strong reputation. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from what I was promised.
From day one, the car's fuel consumption has been abnormally high, averaging 13.15 L/100 km even under normal driving conditions. This is nowhere near Honda's advertised figures of 9.1/7.6/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway/combined). On a full tank, my range barely exceeds 360 km, while a colleague who bought the exact same model from Brentwood Honda gets over 650 km per tank. I raised this issue with North Shore Honda Service Centre, and although they registered my concern, no effective solution or explanation was provided.
I even followed the advisor's recommendation to log multiple fuel fills, but the results have not improved at all. After years of driving Toyota vehicles with dependable performance, I switched to Honda, trusting its brand promise of efficiency and reliability. Sadly, this experience has been deeply disappointing. For a brand-new vehicle less than two months old, I expected much better quality and after-sales support.
I'm sharing this review not out of anger, but out of genuine concern for product quality and customer satisfaction. I sincerely hope Honda Canada investigates this issue seriously because right now, I regret my decision to switch to Honda.
Preferred solution: Price reduction

Verified Reviewer |Unprofessional and careless customer service
July 17 at Windsor Honda I had waited 4 instead of 2 hours for service diagnostic. Service advisor did not even try to update me after two hours when diagnostic was supposed to be done instead I had to seek him and when he finally came to me started with lame excuses how wifi was down and that is the cause for delay.
Service manager offered me to pay half the price because of the delay.
They ordered 2 parts that I paid upfront and I was called a few days later to schedule the appointment that
occurred on the 24th of July 2025. When the work was done I asked the staff to show me old parts and they brought only one part and I paid for 2 parts. I complained and they told me that the second part is add on the existing part that is failing and I asked why there was no recall on that part??? I was told to contact Honda Canada.
I also asked why wasnt I sent satisfaction survey that I was receiving after each visit to Honda service but was told that it is random which is a lie. I was expecting to get a survey but not a blink from Honda Canada. I even emailed multiple times to honda_cr@***.honda.com as contact Client Services but got just promotional email about new vehicles.
I am not satisfied but cannot get the survey to express it.
But I am not done. I am just starting.

Verified Reviewer |Warranty Issues
Purchased a 2024 Honda CR-V last year and after only a few months experienced a flat tire. Because the vehicle doesnt have a spare, i used the compressor and cartridge that comes with it.
The compressor and cartridge worked, however the hole was too large to seal. I purchased a new cartridge to replace the old one as they are a single use.
I unfortunately experienced another flat tire recently and proceeded to seal and inflate the tire but was surprised to find the cartridge didnt expel its contents.
I raised my concerns with Honda Canada to discover that the compressor is not covered under warranty (I have only 40 kms on the vehicle).
Unbelievable! Honda doesnt provide a spare tire and they do not cover the compressor under warranty I didnt see that one. This is my fifth Honda product and Im now done with them.
You pay exorbitant prices for vehicles today, get less (no spare tire) and have less warranty coverage.
Buyer beware.
If you experience a flat tire, you better hope the compressor and cartridge works.. or better yet, buy a car that comes with a spare.
User's recommendation: Buy a car with BBC a spare tire

Verified Reviewer |Comim disappointed that Honda Canada seems to have lower standards than what i expected, for multiple family members to be disrespected as we were and then to have as little follow up and seems zero
To have made the dealership take more responsibility for their actions, we were inadequately offered restitution for our grief, time, being lied to, and not checking in advance of a week-away appointment. An interior detailing would have been more appropriate.
- Add profetionism
- Lack of integrity
Preferred solution: An interior detailing

When I decided to buy my first Van, I investigated and put all my faith on HONDA.
It was very good reviewed and recommended. So, thinking that I will have a good car, I went in put my self in a huge debt to get the best for my family.
As soon as the car was out of the dealer, we have a problem.
The car wont START. So we call a tow truck, took it to the dealer, and they couldnt find the problem.
After that the car was running fine, problem was not found, then I started noticing that sometimes the car wont accelerate and it will jump Took it to the dealer again Off course, they were unable to repeat the issue So, nothing was wrong.
That kept happening, but the service people were never able to see the issue themselves so they assume I was making it up and said the car was totally fine. What can be wrong with a new car???
We kept driving, and as we were told nothing was wrong, we just got used to it and ignored it.
A few years later, the doors kept opening by themselves took it for the recall, they fix it . And it happened again a few times
We were so discouraged with the service Honda provided, that we ignore the door issue as well.
Another year passed.
We are halfway through our payments still around $30000 to go when the car started killing the battery I parked at work and at the end of the day, the car wont start the battery was dead.
We replaced the battery for a new one, thinking that was the problem Nope it kept happening Then the car alarm started activating itself at night, the screens were flashing, and the car was acting crazy Took it to HONDA and after a week, they havent been able to even check the car. So, I decided to take it somewhere else I need my car to go to work.
Finally found a mechanic experienced with HONDA vehicles and after a lot of diagnostic work figure out that the car had a Body Control Module problem.
How he figured it out? He found out that US HONDA has recall thousands of their vehicles due to this problem.
He suggested we contact HONDA to see if they will cover this as it was a part of a RECALL We did but the answer was that this is only on United States and does not include any Canadian purchased vehicle. We pay around $6000 to get that part fixed.
After that, we had to do some other repairs, that were probably normal due to the usage of the car.
Those I am not complaining.
Last week, I started my car to go home, and a Transmission problem alert appears on my screen. Before that the car was running without any new issues.
I was unable to move the car to any gear. I towed it to HONDA. There they did the diagnostic service and now tell me that the car needs a new transmission.
I also see that there was a recall in the US for this issue.
My van in and EXL but it has the same issue.
Now they said my car mileage is high, which is true. We have 270000 KM on it.
I honestly believe that it could have last longer if it was as good as people make me believe in their reviews If I hadnt had to spend so much money on fixing a NEW car, I may say it lasted long enough, but since day one we had issues and HONDA was not helping us to solve them, and gave a blind eye to our complaints.
I am not recommending HONDA to anyone. It has been the worse experience I have a Mazda from 2012, which have had no issues. Only maintenance and it keeps running after 12 years with no problem
Never again I will spend $60000 in a Honda.
Terrible, terrible experience.
I hope that my story help Honda Canada take their clients more seriously and investigate if a recall in the US affect the cars you sell in Canada.
Our car was built in the US so how come none of the recalls apply? HONDA NEVER AGAIN

Verified Reviewer |Bad quality products used in the car
I bought the Honda CR-V Hybrid Touring 2023 model when it first came out. The car cost almost $55,000 to $58,000, charging such an exorbitant price and using substandard leather.
The steering wheel leather starts wearing off and is showing patches, and also, when wiped with a cloth, there is black color coming off the steering leather. The quality of leather used is either substandard quality or synthetic leather or faux leather; I bet not genuine leather is used, which they claim they do.
I have never seen a car start to have a leather wearing issue in such a short lifespan. Very frustrating for a car less than 2 years old to have such defective and low quality leather.
- Was initially good car
- Use very low quality of products in the manufacturing and exorbitatnt price

Just reading my fine print on my sales sheet, I bought the 2025 crv hybrid and one of the reasons was a rebate of 1000$ and my sales sheet said I declined, the financial person quickly went down the sheet not indicating this, who in there right mind would decline 1000$ rebate. I traded my crv just recently and phone fort St.
John BC to pro rate a refund and send it to me and they refused saying it continues on with the vehicle, well I dont pay for someone elses warranty! They charged me for brake adjustment and differential oil change they told my wife if she didnt do it that the warranty would be voided . Well disc brakes are self adjusting thats what the crv has.
So they are scamming people on the brake adjustment and the rebate , my guess is they pocketed the 1000 rebate because I would never would decline it . Also I couldve paid it out after my trade and they said in order to get my rebate that I would have to finance some of the difference, my wife and I are in our mid 60s and feel they are taking advantage of seniors

I traded my 2025 Honda crv because I didnt like the warranty and i purchased 3 year tire and rim protection and they refuse to pro rate reimburse me and reading the fine print on my sales transaction one of the reasons I bought it, they were offering 1000$ rebate and it says in my sales transaction that I declined it, they also adjusted my disc brakes which are self adjusting and charged me over 200 for that, what a scam , told my wife that the warranty would be void if she didnt agree to the mechanical work, they sent me my money back for the brake adjustment scam and for changing my differential oil at 14000 km, warranty was not explained to me at time of sale, shouldve done some homework I guess they are rated 27th and 30th of the 2 websites I checked for warranty after the fact

Verified Reviewer |They ruined our credit history!
We decided to buy a car here and wanted to go with the financing option. We chose the car, filled out the application, and after some days, they informed us our application was denied and the car was sold.
About a week later, we contacted our bank to apply for a line of credit for another matter, and the bank informed us that Honda had submitted five applications in the past two weeks on our behalf with different banks, and they had all been denied. As a result of those five denied applications, which we weren't even aware of, our credit score is ruined, and we are not allowed to apply for any type of loan for the next twelve months. It was a total shock for us as we were unaware that they applied five times on our behalf without even informing us once about how they were proceeding! When we brought this up with Kamalpreet Sidhu, the person who was in charge of our finance application, he didn't take any responsibility for ruining our bank history and didn’t even offer an apology!
I told him that it is not the standard practice for getting a loan, and he should have informed us if he filled out more than one application on our behalf. I also said that Honda is responsible for damaging our credit history and informed him that we are going to file an official complaint with Honda's head office. He said this is how we do things here, and you can proceed however you want! It's fine!
We contacted Honda Canada customer service, and they said we don't get involved in these matters! We have to face a ruined credit history, being banned from applying for any loan for twelve months just because we made the mistake of going to Honda!

Verified Reviewer |Untrustworthy buyers beware
Beware when you spend money on a Honda. I trusted I was getting a reliable vehicle and a Honda family that would take the best care of my family and car.
Unless you opted for all the extended warranty and all the bells and whistles, they don't care and will not help you. Nothing but bad service at Honda dealerships and not even an opportunity to try and negotiate or meet in the middle because, well, I didn't get the extended warranty. Please second guess before opting into the Honda family; they will bring your car in for a recall just to break parts and write you a bill for thousands of dollars.
I probably won't be buying a Honda ever again and should have trusted my gut and gone with Toyota. Yours truly, an unhappy, unsatisfied businesswoman who won't be giving Honda any more of my business.

Verified ReviewerPoor customer service and quality of product
There have been 4 recalls on my 2018 Honda Ridgeline. I get that recalls happen but in these cases it is the company response that matters most.
And on this matter, Honda Canada fails miserably. For instance, for my last recall, it took 16 months for the parts to become available for the repair. Not acceptable (!!) considering that during that time we continually have a concern about whether the vehicle will strand my family because of a faulty fuel pump motor. More recently (May 2025), we received a warranty extension notice due to a "torque converter lock up piston" that may crack.
Here again, Honda is not fixing the problem or even trying to determine if there is one. Instead, they want us to wait another 3-4 years to see if a problem develops. Really!! So, I call Honda to question this issue, they said to bring it in for them to look at on our dime, what??
I asked for a Manager to explain why i have to pay and have heard nothing in 9 days. Summary. This will be the last Honda product I purchase. Their quality has deteriorated and they do not back their product.
My advice.
Buy Toyota, my other vehicle. Awesome product with no issues, recalls, or need for customer service, Very nice!

Honda HR-V transmission failure and safety risk
I purchased a used 2018 Honda HR-V, and the day after purchase, I noticed unusual noises coming from the vehicle. I took it to a certified Honda dealer, where they updated the transmission software without my consent or prior notice. After the update, the car suddenly stalled on the highway, creating a serious safety risk. The dealership then informed me that the transmission is failing and that this is a wider issue among HR-Vs.
There is a known extended warranty (7 years/150,000 miles) on the CVT transmission, but my vehicle is only 6 months past the time limit and still under 110,000 miles. Honda Corporate has denied a goodwill claim, despite the safety issue and my history as a loyal Honda customer. I currently own four Honda vehicles, and this situation has raised major concerns about the safety and reliability of the HR-V's transmission.
I'm filing this complaint because I believe this is part of a systemic transmission defect that has not been adequately addressed, and the sudden failure after a dealer-initiated update poses a significant safety hazard.
- Terrible experience

Whoever was handling your line of credit application was a moron. Your credit report shows the type of loan applied for.
In your case an auto loan.
All five inquiries were in regards to one purchase. Although if you couldn’t qualify for an auto loan, you never stood a chance getting a line of credit.
This is standard for car dealers and is nothing new. I think you missed the part where this person was denied on each attempt. Their credit was garbage before they ever showed up to the dealership hence multiple denials.
Got it. I was just trying to say that credit line banker should have said OP’s credit was poor to begin with. If the banker was blaming five attempts, it’s still for one purchase.
